Timothy Schaat, MD, ABFM, ABPM

Dr. Timothy Schaat is board certified by both the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Preventive Medicine, with subspecialty credentials in Addiction Medicine. Originally from Walnut Creek, California, he earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Utah and completed his residency at the St. Mary’s Family Medicine Program in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Dr. Schaat has been treating chemical dependency in outpatient settings since 2008 and brings additional expertise in acute detoxification and Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), including the use of Naltrexone and Buprenorphine. He has been a key member of the Turning Point Centers team for nearly a decade, where he helps individuals achieve sustainable recovery through evidence-based medical care.
When not seeing patients, Dr. Schaat enjoys traveling, hiking, skiing, and fishing—often exploring the outdoors that first brought him to Utah.
